Mallet Duet

Vibraphone and Marimba, 2m

 

Terrifically urgent, beautifully complex, angular yet still lyrical.  My goal in these pieces was to exploit the sometimes frightening agility of mallet instruments without crossing the line between melody and chaos.

This is the first of a larger set – the rest are still sketches.  As is usually the case with my multi-movement works, any movement can be played on its own.  More will be posted here as I complete them.
